1) The editing or "photoshopping" in the media of celebrities' and public figures' pictures. I was thinking of going in depth on how it effects our society and more specifically american teenagers. I don't know if this is in the topic of "the arts" enough maybe I can spin it that way. After all digital editing is an art I would just like to see how it effects teenagers perceptions of themselves and others.
2) My second topic is veganism and if it is actually beneficial or detrimental to ones health or somewhere in between. I was thinking about relating it to the views that different cultures have on the lifestyle

ReplyDeleteI think the vegan-ism topic is a really good idea. I have a few vegan friends and they are always defending their stand on the refusal to eat meat or dairy. While writing the paper you should also include why people become vegan, focusing on what exactly is wrong with the dairy society consumes. A lot of the information you find may surprise you.

Great topic, i learned about stuff like this in a soc class. when we read magazines and look at models there's a lot of photo editing behind it which leads to so many social misunderstandings so I think you have a lot to work with when addressing this topic.
ReplyDeleteWe discussed this in detail in my food science class first semester so i know there are a great deal of scientific articles on the subject at our library, but it should be interesting to see at the end of your paper which side you will tend to favor
